Culture Tours & Tengboche-11Days

The Tengboche Everest Monastery Trek and Culture tour takes you through the famous culture tours in Kathmandu, many Sherpa villages, several monasteries and valley of Khumbu. Through the trek to Everest Monastery we will be experiencing great hospitality of Sherpa and we will reach Namche Bazar. Indeed, our tours will start as : Kathmandu to Lukla by flight and from Lukla our trek starts to valley of Dudh Koshi and to the Namche Bazzar. The Namche is the capitial of Sherpa where we will acclimatize before heading to the Thame Village to valley of the Bhote Koshi. We will visit an ancient cliff-hugging Buddhist monastery. Descending to Khumjung, we are treated to incredible views of Kantega and Thamserku and the Nuptse-Lhotse wall with Mt Everest rearing above. At Khumjung, we camp below Khumbila Peak, home of the patron God of the Khumbu, before making our way towards Phortse, Pangboche and Thyangboche. The views along the trail throughout are tremendous, with snow-capped mountains on all sides, deep forested river valleys and small villages and their fields clinging to impossible looking slopes.

During our trek, the highest altitude we will have is 3,860 Meters in Tengboche where we will find beautiful and unspoiled monasteries. After axploring the Tengboche monastery and Village, we will return back to Namche. Then slowly back to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. The best time for doing this trip is in March to May and September to December of the year.

Culture Tours & Tengboche- 11Days



Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuwan International airport. Welcome by our representative and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu. Check in and over night at hotel

Enjoy your morning breakfast and at 9am our team will pick you up at your hotel and take you for your first day cultural tours in Kathmandu valley which is followed by “Durbar Square” and “Swayambhunath”, Boudhnath & Pashupatinath temple. The meaning of Durbar Square is place of palaces. In total; there are three preserved Durbar Squares in Kathmandu valley and one unpreserved in Kirtipur which is just 20 minutes drive from Kathmandu city. During your sightseeing in Durbar Square; you will be exploring Kasthmandap, a three storied temple enshrining the deity of Goraknath, Kumari House, a building where resides Kumari ( living goddess ), Hanuman Dhoka, Kalo Bhairaw, Seto Bhairaw and finally we will ahead towards Swayambhunath which is also known as Monkey temple, the Boudhanath a Buddhist stupa; one of the holiest Buddhist and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kathmandu. After the full day sightseeing activities you shall be tried with full impression. We will drive back to your hotel and enjoy the evening on your own.

A short spectacular mountain flight to Lukla (2850m) early in the morning takes us to the gateway of the Everest trek. After a short explore of Lukla village, the trek starts with a descent towards the Dudh Koshi River which meets the main trail of our trek. This fairly easy 4-5 hours trek passes trough few pleasant Sherpa villages and provides magnificent views of Kongde and Kusumkangaru; two of Nepal’s technical trekking peaks. We finally reach Phakding. Overnight at Teahouse.

We start the morning with slow ascend through the blue pine and rhododendron forest that is very spectacular in the spring months when the flowers are in full bloom. We will cross the Dudh Koshi River at Benkar and enjoy great views of the snow peaks Kusum Kangaru and Thamserku until we reach Monjo. After Monjo the trek will be a little strenuous with steep ascent. We then enter the Sagarmatha National Park where our permits are checked before we descend quite steeply to Jorsale. The trek continues upstream on a flat terrain to the confluence of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers. After crossing a large suspension bridge high above the river we climb steeply up to the village of Namche Bazaar where we will have the first glimpse of Everest including , Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Tawoche. This is a slow 6-7 Hours walk to reach Namche. Overnight at Teahouse.

Today is a rest and acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Namche is a colorful village with many wonderful and interesting shops and vendors, fabulous food, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. An early hike above town, before the clouds move in, reward climbers with a spectacular Himalayan sunrise and views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse (the 4th highest peak in the world), and the beautiful Ama Dablam. On the way down, we can visit the Sherpa Museum that houses an exhibit on traditional Sherpa lifestyle and a fabulous photography display by a local Nepalese naturalist. There is the option of walking up to the Everest View Hotel 3,900m to khumjung Hillary village or day hike to Thame. Overnight at Teahouse.

From Namche, the trail contours on to the side of the valley, high above the Dudh Kosi through few villages and numerous tea shops. We descend steeply before we cross over the river at Phunki Tenga. The village is an ideal stopover for lunch where we can rest before making the steep climb to Tengboche. Although the hike up the zigzag path is tiring, it presents us with many beautiful sights of rhododendron bushes with beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. On most treks we see Himalayan Thar, Danphe (the National Bird of Nepal) and Musk Deer along the trail. Tengboche is famous for its legendary monastery; the largest in the Khumbu. We spend the night next to the Tengboche monastery, the spiritual center of the Khumbu region. It takes 6-7 hours to reach there. Overnight at Teahouse.

Breakfast and you will be proceeding for day exploring Tengboche monastery and village. Tengboche monastery is located amidst the Sagarmatha National Park is draped with a panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountains, including the well known peaks of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The Tengboche is also the terminus site of the "Sacred Sites Trail Project" of the Sagarmatha National Park that attracts large number of tourists for trekking and mountaineering. It is a circular trail that covers 10 monasteries in a clockwise direction terminating in the Tengboche Monastery. Enjoy the vie of beautiful mountains and village then over night in Tengboche.

It takes about four and half hours. The walk from Tyangboche is mostly downhill on the main busy trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga, near to Shanasha. The walk to Namche is very scenic on a long winding path. En route you will visit traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde. There is an opportunity to visit one of its monasteries, the only monastery that has a Yeti Scalp. From Khumjung village another 30 minutes walk brings you to the village of Khunde, where you can visit the Khunde Hospital funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust. After Khunde, a scenic and pleasant walk brings you to Namche. Overnight at Teahouse.

Our final day's trekking follows the Dudh Kosi down to Lukla. It takes around 7 hours to go back to Lukla where we stay for the night. This last evening calls for a celebration. We have a party with our Sherpa guides and porters. We sample some change (local beer) and try out some Sherpa dance steps. Altogether an end to a memorable trip on a merry note. Overnight at Teahouse.

Breakfast at morning and you take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. After arrive in kathmandu airport our team willpick you up from Domestic aiport and transfer you to hotel. Relax the day or set your day for shopping in Kathmandu. Over night in Kathmandu.
