Everest Gokyo Ri Lake Trek, another great memorable and rewarding land of high altitude lakes and icy glaciers reaching the peak of Gokyo Ri at altitude of 5,350 meter offers you awesome views of four among the eight highest mountains on the earth within single range of panorama. From the Gokyo Ri we can see Everest Mountain (8,848m), and three more Himalyan giants; Cho Oyu at altitude of 8,153m, Lhotse peak at altitude of 8,501m, and Mount Makalu at altitude of 8,463m and great Glacier Ngozumpa. The small herding settlement of Gokyo 4,750 meter lies on the bank of the third lake in a series of small turquoise mountain lakes and on the ridge above Gokyo famous mountains above eight thousands are exposing towards you. Additionally, you can have a look at the tremendous ice ridge between ChoYou and Gyachung 7,922m, considered one of the most dramatic panoramas in the Khumbu region. There are many options for additional exploration and high-altitude walking, including the crossing of Cho La, a 5420m high pass into Khumbu and a hike to Gokyo Ri Lake. After reaching Everest Gokyo Ri Lake, on the way back you will return from the standard Gokyo trek as you will take the route back to Namche by crossing the Renjo La pass which stands at altitude of 5,340meter instead of trekking from backside of the Gokyo valley trails which makes our trek most exciting and challenging for all of us. KATHMANDU — LUKLA 2886M — PHAKDING 2652M; 4 HOURS
Morning breakfast, then our team will transfer you to the domestic airport in Kathmandu to take your onwards flight to Lukla. It will take approximately 35 minutes from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the shortest commercial run way airport in Nepal. After landing in Lukla you will prepare the trekking gears and start your walk from Lukla to Phakding descending 200 meters which we will overcome after 4 hours walk. During our trek from Lukla to Phakding we will be having great mountains glimpse such as Nupla 5885m above Kongde Ridge, Kusum Kang 6367m and finally we will reach the Phakding. It is most important in your trek in high altitude that you walk slowly and drink a lot water, never keep you under pressure to enable your body to acclimatise and enjoy the trek. PHAKDING — NAMCHE BAZAAR 3440M; 5 HOURS
Have your breakfast, then we will start our trek to Namche Bazar, a capital of Sherpa which lies at altitude of 3,440 meter. Today, begins on level ground, relative to the environment crossing the river on the high suspension bridge, begin to climb upwards to Manju 2800m, and on to the gateway to the Sagarmatha National park entrance. We will be passing our trekking permits and national park entrance clearance at entrance then we will have small good rest. Then we will start our trek further up and enjoy the views of Kusum Kangaru, Thamserku, Konde-Ri and Tawache peak before we reach the Namache Bazar. After crossing the Larcha Dowan bridge we will finally climb up the mountain to reach the Namache Bazar which is pretty hard for today. Finally, after the 5 hours walk, we will reach Namche Bazar and enjoy the evening in Namche. Overnight in a guest house.3RD DAY
ACCLIMATIZATION IN NAMCHE
Today is acclimatisation day in Namche. Main aim of ours today is to give your body to acclimatise for the next days. Drink lots of water and take some gentle exercise and if the day falls Friday or Saturday you can even visit the local markets opened only on these day. If you feel well, we will walk slowly to the Syangboche by passing the Syangboche air strip at 3,790 meter, one of the highest air stripe in the world. After climbing little up we will enjoy the stunning view of Everest & Ama Dablam. Then we will visit the Khumjung village where the Hillary opened a school and Khunde nearby. After then return back to Namche and overnight in Namche.4TH DAY
NAMCHE BAZAR — KHUMJUNG 3,790M; 4 HOURS
Breakfast in Namche and we will start our trek to Khumjung taking a day hike through out the villages of Khunde and Khumjung. Bypassing the steep climb which takes us a hour we will come out at the highest altitude in the world “Syangboche air stripe” standing at the altitude of 3,790 meter then we will ascent towards the Khunde passing numerous Chorten (stone Buddhist monuments ). Following the trail from Khunde to Eastwards to Khumjung a largest village which resides in Khumbu, at the foot of the sacred peak of Khumbila. As soonest we reach the Khumjung we enjoy the great view of Mountain Everest. Today, we will set out overnight in Khumjung.
KUMJUNG — DOLE 4,040M; 5 HOURS
Have your breakfast and we will ahead our trek towards the Dingboche descedning through Rhododendron forest to pasture below and Deboche. Have your breakfast and we will ahead our trek towards the Dole, climbing the large Chorten on the top of ridge right after leaving the Khumjung. This ridge descends from Khumbila 5,734m which is said to be the abode of the patron God of the Khumbu region. Our trekking trail descends slightly towards the Sanasa and then trail ascends up to Mongla at altitude of 4000 meter. From the Mongla we will have great panorama view of the mountains, then we slowly trek steeply descend passing through Phorse Tenga. After this, our trek climbs steeply until the Dole, bypassing the Rhododendron and birch forest festooned with hanging mosses and lichens. Finally we will reach the Phortse Tenga at altitude of 3,650 meter and have our delicious meals.6TH DAY
DOLE — MACHHERMO 4,150; 5 HOURS
Enjoy your breakfast, then we will trek towards the Machhermo finally reaching the altitude of 4,150 today. After leaving the Dole, we will climb steadily along the side of the valley where small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude would be increasing. Our trail will be passing many summer settlements, those are used when Yaks are taken to these pasture to graze in the summer months. Just front of us, we will have an excellent view of Cho Oyu, on the back down inside the valley are the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku.7TH DAY
DINGBOCHE - LOBUCHE 4,930M; 5+ HOURS
After breakfast, we will start our trek towards the Lobuche which will take us 5 hourse plus today. We will be trekking through the Periche, Dugla enjoying beautiful scenery inside the valley we will finally reach well protected from the elements “Lobuche”. Have dinner and overnight in Lobuche.
MACHHERMO—GOKYO 4,750M; 4 HOURS
Breakfast then starts our trek passing through Pangka the trail descends towards the river before beginning the climb onto the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. It is a steep climb up the moraine to the first of three lakes where a sudden change of scenery is met. The first lake is really quite small. The trail then levels as it passes a second lake and an hour further we arrive at Gokyo where we stay by the shores of the third lake. We will probably arrive in time for lunch. The afternoon can be spent exploring the area, walking onto the ridge of the lateral moraine for superb views across to Cholatse and up the glacier to the huge bulk of Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang. Overnight in Gokyo in the lodge.9TH DAY
EXPLORING THE GOKYO
Have your breakfast then we would be relaxing fully with these great scenery today. We will walk around the Gokyo which leads the trails up to the valley after one hour walk we will see the 4th lake. If we continue another one more hour we will reach the another 5th lake with the viewpoint from the moraine beside it offers a “Scoundrels View”of Mount Everest which is simply incredible. Another awesome view is the wall between Cho Oyu and Gyachhung Kang looking over to the Everest which we also call the Geneva Spur, from where the South Col, a stunning Lhotse face and Nuptse can be well seen. On the North are the North ridge and famous first and second steps where Mallory and Irvine went missing. After these beautiful exploration of this upper valley of Gokyo we return back to Gokyo again and overnight in Lodge.10TH DAY
GOKYO— GOKYO RI 5,483, - MACHHERMO; 5 HOURS
Today we climb Gokyo Ri at an altitude of 5,496m for superb views of the entire mountain chain from the Nangpa La to Makalu and beyond, including four of the Worlds highest peaks; the Cho Oyu 8,168m, Everest 8,848m, Lhotse 8,526m and Makalu 8,496m. It is breathtaking moments particularly if we manage to make it for sunrise which might take us about 2 hours to get to the top and an hour to get back to the Gokyo. After then we return back to Gokyo, have our breakfast and descend our trek to Machhermo. As we all are already get used and expericned after the several days walk in high altitude today’s trek would be quite a easy walk for all of us to reach the Machhermo.11TH DAY
NAMCHE — PHAKDING; 5 HOURS
ave breakfast in Namche then we will descend our trek to Phakding today. We will about 4– 5 hours descending steeply for the first half, crossing the bridge we will reach Phakding. Today is our last day of the trek, as we have successfully managed our trek, we will be having farewell ceremony with our entire team; guide and porters where we all will be also testing the local made pre-alcohol Chhyang along the Sherpa dance. PHAKDING — LUKLA; 4 HOURS
Today is our last day of the trek, continue descending trek, although it is not all downhill. At Choplung we leave the valley trail to ascend gently and contour around the hillside to Lukla. The trail climbs steadily above the fields and school of Chaurikharka village. Lukla is a long, narrow village, the central street leading to the airstrip, which is now a tarmac strip on the Lukla hillside high, above the Dudh Kosi Valley. The bottom of the airstrip is 60 metres lower than the top. After reaching the Lukla, check in at hotel then we will be having farewell ceremony with our entire team; guide and porters where we all will be also testing the local made pre-alcohol Chhyang along the Sherpa dance as we all managed our trek successfully. Over night in Lukla.14TH DAY
