The Saga Dawa Festival which is observed during the full moon day of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar which falls usually May-June is celebrated at Mount Kailash. The festival is most important in Buddhist society all over the world. The Saga Dawa festival is celebrated in honour of Sakyamuni’s enlightenment. This auspicious day coincide with three important events in Buddha’s life which are; Buddha’s birth, Nirvana and Death. During the pilgrimage tours you will visit Lake Manasarovar lies at 4,590m above the sea level, a relatively high elevation for a large freshwater lake on the mostly-saline lake-studded Tibetan Plateau. As per Hindu theology; Lake Manasarovar is a personification of purity, and one who drinks water from the lake will go to the Abode of Lord Shiva after death. He is believed to be cleansed of all his sins committed over even a hundred lifetimes. Like Mount Kailash, Lake Manasarovar is a place of pilgrimage, attracting religious people from India, Nepal, Tibet and the neighbouring countries. Bathing in the Manasa Sarovar lake and drinking its water is believed to cleanse all sins. DURBAR SQUARE - SWYAMBHUNATH AND BOUDHANATH STUPA

Morning breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast at 9am, your our team will pick you up from hotel then proceed for your sightseeing tours to historical place of Kathmandu Durbar square. Have sightseeing and visit many deferent temples then we will be proceeding our visit to Buddhist sites; Swyambhunath and world’s heritage site Boudhanath. During your sightseeing tours, you will be exploring one of the well known popular Buddhist stupa called Soyambhunath also known as Monkey Temple and another holiest and largest ancient stupa in the world Buddhist sites Boudhanath. After then you will be dropped at your hotel. Have your dinner and overnight in Kathmandu.

29TH MAY

KATHMANDU—RELAX AND SHOPPING DAY FOR TIBET;

Enjoy your morning breakfast and relax at your hotel. Today is your resting time whereas our team will keep full efforts to obtain your entry visa for Tibet. You can purchase your sleeping bags or other accessories for Tibet if you don’t have them yet. Have your lunch and dinner and over in Kathmandu.

30TH MAY

KATHMANDU - NYALAM BY ROAD- 150KM

Early morning breakfast at your hotel, then drive from Kathmandu to Kodari. Its a valley drive, you will cross many rivers, beautiful villages and finally you will reach border of Tibet. You will cross the border at Dzangmu at the elevation of 2,200Mt above sea level and then drive to Nyalam.The distance between Dzangmu and Nyalam is 30Km only but it will take 1 and half hrs to get there since the road is very adventurous in the gorge. On the way from Dzangmu to Nyalam, You will view a great gorge with beautiful green forest composed of different kinds of trees. During the monsoon, you can also view lovely water fall from different side of gorge. Nyalam is a small town with some government buildings and Tibetan district buildings. Rest the evening and overnight in guest house.

31ST MAY

ACCLIMATIZATION IN NYALAM

Today is acclimatization day, have your breakfast and rest the day on your own in Nylam. The reason we have chosen one rest day here in Nyalam is in order to successfully complete your trip from Kailash without feeling sick as you have acclimatized your body to the high altitude one day at Nyalam without any difficulty so during that day, you need to walk around the town up and down and drink more water for the preparation of the up. coming days journey.

1ST JUNE

NYALAM – SAGA-DRONGBA; 400KM DRIVE

Morning breakfast and we will drive around 8-9 hrs on a little bumpy road today, but the scenery is one of the most spectacular one during your journey to Kailash that you can see great Himalayan ranges and one of the most world popular snow mountain called Shisha Bangma (8,200Mt) from the top of a pass called Thongla (5,200Mt). Besides a fantastic view of lake Pekutso will be appeared on the way and you can stop for photos with lake and snow mountain behind the valley. Saga is a small town with some government buildings and district Tibetan buildings. We continue our driving in the valley with lots of nomad camps, Yaks and sheep are being grazed in the beautiful grass land. Once you see those nomads and their own live stocks, you will naturally feel the beauty of Tibet and her culture and custom.

2ND JUNE

ENJOY KAILASH FESTIVAL

Morning breakfast at your camp or lodge. The Saga Dawa festival is to commemorate the birth, death and enlightenment of Buddha Shakyamuni. Thousands of pilgrims gather in Lhasa, circumambulate the Lingkor (Outer circumambulation), Bharkor (Middle circumambulation) and Nangkor (inner circumambulation) including the Potala Palace. They also climb to Bumpari and Gephel Utse to make incense and prayer flag offerings. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists also gather at Mount Kailash.

3RD JUNE

DARCHEN - DIRA PHUK. 18KM 4900MT

Today is the first day of your Kailash Kora which is totally around 53Km. You start your Kora from Darchen and after like 2 hrs walk, you will face Darpo Che where there is a huge prayer flag pole which is annually replaced by the pilgrimages on 15th of forth Lunar month, known as Saga Dawa festival, As well as Trulku monastery on your left side up on the hill side. You can also see ibex and blue sheep running in the rocky hillside while you are walking and then you will reach Dhira Phuk which was a monastery before but nowadays you can only see the ruins of the monastery as the monastery was destroyed in the cultural revolution. After then overnight in camp.

4TH JUNE

DIRAPHUK - ZUTRUL PHUK 20KM 4,750MT

Morning breakfast, then today will be the second day of your Kailash Kora which is indeed the hardest day of your three days trek. You will have to climb up to the top of Drolma La pass which is more than 5000Mt. There will be three sloppy hike to get to the top of Drolma La pass from Dhira Phuk and then pretty steep down hill with rocky path all the way to the valley. On the right side of the down hill path, there is a small lake called Thuje Lake, meaning compassionate lake. The Zutrul Phuk was the cave where Mila Repa and Nagro Bonchung debated for their religion sects and nowadays, it is a small monastery. Evening overnight in camp.

5TH JUNE

JOMZUTUL PHUK - DARCHEN. 14KM-DRIVE TO LAKE MANSAROVAR

Enjoy your breakfast at camp and start your journey to Lake Masarovar. Today is the easiest and last day of your Kailash kora as you will trek down in the valley with beautiful distant scenery of Rakshas Tal lake .From here you will depart your Yak men and kind Yak and shift to jeeps. Rest afternoon at the lake Mansarovar and enjoy the view of Mt Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

6TH JUNE

LAKE MANSAROVAR – BARYANG-DRONGBA CAMP

After the breakfast, we will be returning back to Baryang Drongba. Prepare our camp and overnight in camp at Baryang Drongba.

DRONGBA — SAGA — NYALAM GUEST HOUSE

Morning breakfast at your camp or lodge. Then starts our journey towards the Saga and Nyalam. After a long drive we will rest in Nyalam guest house and overnight in Nylam.

8TH JUNE

NYALAM — DZANGMU—KATHMANDU

Today is the last day in Tibet. After breakfast we will drive to Dzangmu and then enter the border of Nepal. Make the formalities in both immigrations, then drive from Dzangmu to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, check in at your hotel and rest the evening on your own after a long drive. Have your dinner and overnight in Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU — TRIBHUWAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
