Discover Upper Mustang

Today, we will drive from Kathmandu to the beautiful city of Pokhara. Our team will pick you up at 7 AM and start your journey to Pokhara. The total duration of the drive might be from 5—6 Hours. It depends upon the traffic situation. During the drive, you will learn the countryside, waterfalls and beautiful rivers in the valley. Finally reaching Pokhara city, check-in and rest in your hotel. After then we will start the hiking to Peace Stupa crossing the Phewa Lake by boat. During the hiking to the peace stupa, you will enjoy the wonderful walk throughout the forest you will reach the top of the peace stupa. Enjoy the amazing Pokhara valley with the entire Annapurna range as well as Paragliders that are flying close to the Fishtail mountain from the top of the hill. After then, we will return and cross the Phewa Lake by boat. Enjoy the evening on your own walking around the Pokhara city. Overnight in Pokhara.

Have your breakfast at your hotel in Pokhara. We will be ready at 7 am to start a long-way drive off-road trail for around 155 KMs from Pokhara to Jomsom via Kushma, Baglung, Beni, Tatopani, Lete, then along the Kali Gandaki River to Marpha and Jomsom. The mainstream of the adventure off-road drive starts from Beni to Jomsom which is about 90KMs. During the drive, we would be having rewarding sceneries like an amazing mountain range, river, waterfall, and typical villages. Finally, we will reach the most famous Apple farm of the Mustang district Marpha and then finally reach the Jomsom Bazar. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel in Jomsom. After then we will get ready at 8 am and start our drive from Jomsom to Kagbeni; one of the most famous and interesting Tibetan villages as well as an entry point to the upper Mustang. We will enjoy amazing scenery of the most famous mountain like Nilgiri peak 7,061m, Tukuche peak 6,920m, Dhampus peak 6,012m and massif peak of Dhaulagiri stands just in front of your nose at 8,167m. Our driving trail continues to the east of the Kaligandaki bypassing the Tangbe village which is a labyrinth of narrow alleys amongst the white-washed houses. After passing the Tangbe village we will reach another village Chhusang which lies 80KM away from Jomsom. After then we will continue our drive crossing the river and continue our drive climbing north, where we will see a huge red chunk of the conglomerate which was fallen from the above cliff and forming a tunnel through the Kaligandiki riverbank. Finally, we will leave the Kalgandaki riverbank valley and climb a bit steeply up a rocky gully to Chaile which stands at an elevation of 3,030 meters. To be noted from this point we will feel different cultures from the Manangi Culture to the Tibetan culture. We will drive continue passing the steps, totally deserted unique landscape along the side of the spectacular steep canyon passing the rock elevation of 3,540 meters. After then our driving trail makes a long gradual descent to some Chortens on a ridge and reach finally a pleasant trail to Samar. Enjoy amazing Annapurna hugely dominated by Nilgiri peak which visible to our south yet. We will drive throughout the Samar to the ridge and finally descend our ride towards a large gorge then our route leads us into another valley crossing a stream and passing the ridge elevation of 3,800 meters. Our route descends towards the Shyanbochen then Geling and crossing the typical steel bridge of the Tangmar Chu river, we will reach the Mani Wall one of the spectacular and longest wall in Nepal. Our route leads us to continue to pass the Tsarang (Charang) descending the driving trail from Tsarang to Tsarang-Chu climbing the steeply up rocky trail to a landmark on a ridge at the elevation of 3,850 meter. We will enjoy the beautiful view of the walled city of Lo. Our rout descents crossing a stream then continues to climb up into the plateau of our final destination Lo Manthang. We will arrive at our guest house, check-in and rest the evening at the guest house. Have your breakfast at your guest house. Our experienced local guide will take you to explorer the most famous upper part of Mustang today. During your sightseeing you will be visiting the most must-see places of Lo Manthang; Tall Champa Lakhang which is a God House, a red Thugchen Gompa, Chhyodi Gompa and main entrance hall of the town. Similarly, we will continue our exploration of Lo Manthang visiting the King’s palace which is a four-storied building having an awesome panoramic view of the Himalaya. We will have our lunch break and continue our tour to explore another beautiful village that lies in its eastern part Chosar, where we will be able to see a high school as well, Garphu and Nyphu Gompa leading the main route for the traders to Lhasa. It depends upon our available time, if our time permits us then we will also hike to the surrounded green hill and have a beautiful view of mount Kailash and plateau of Tibet. After the sightseeing tours, we will return to the guest house and have our dinner. Enjoy your early morning breakfast at Lo Manthang and get ready to drive sharply at 6 am today. We will prepare us for the departure and start our trip from Lo Manthang to Muktinath and then to Jomsom. Driving back to the Kagbeni, we will ride uphill towards the Jharkot which is a beautiful unique village in lower Mustang. Then we will continue our drive from via Ranipauwa to Muktinath. Explorer the Holi temple of Muktinath which is a Vishnu temple, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass in Mustang, Nepal. It is one of the world's highest temples (altitude 3,800 m). Within Hinduism, it is known as Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the 'place of liberation' and in Buddhism, it calls Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters". There are 2 Kunda (Water Ponds), the name of Laxmi Saraswoti Kunda. There are 108 waterspouts cast in the shape of cow headed pour holy water which you will find just behind the Muktinath temple. Lots of pilgrimage takes bath from the ice-cold holy water where they believe that after taking a bath in this holy water their sins would be washed. Furthermore, there is the sacred water that starts from the rock inside the ancient Tibetan style “Jwala Mai Temple”. The holy flame alongside a spring that is the source of the religious importance of Muktinath. Another attraction for the pilgrimage is the River Kali Gandaki from where one can collect fossils of the old age. Have your breakfast at your hotel in Jomsom. Then we will drive back to Pokhara along the Kali Gandaki river bank, Marpha, Tatopani, Beni, and Pokhara.
